when you turn the key, if it just clicks, its the battery. try jumping it
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.

I doubt wiring will cause the shift linkage not to move

thats wierd the linkage won't shift but clicking is a low battery or starter. you did use a 5 speed one correct.

you need to use a b-series linkage or d-series depending on the swap you have, if it's bent and you started it you wouldn't go anywhere. after the linkage try jumping it or see if a neighbor has a portable jump box, the brake lights are a mystery to me.

Id check the brake switch up at the bottom, behind the pedal. Check your wiring diagram.
