    Default catalytic converter problems

    The other day i was driving and hit a pot hole hard,my car lost power and i pulled over looked under the car and the cat was red hot. The car won't start now does anyone know whats wrong? I think the cat is clogged.

    naw i was on the side of the highway,but when i tried to start it i get a rattle in the exhaust,plus there was some white stuff in the end of the exhaust

    and after a while it started back up and pushed on the gas pedal but no power,and then it cut back off.

    Why don't you unbolt the cat from the header pipe and see if it helps? It's two bolts.... And yes a totally clogged cat can cause no start/low power.

    X2 sounds like one or both bricks have busted and has stopped the flow. unbolt it and it should run.

    depending on where you live and if an o2 sensor plugs into it, hollow it out and go, mine is hollowed out and i have it modified so i don't get a CEL, i know the tree huggers hate me but i couldn't find a high flow cat and a new one is really expensive.

    As someone else say, sounds like there's some internal damage to the cat. Get it replaced.
