Battery Relocation Question
I'm relocating my battery for practical reasons, not to be "cool". I need to run a bigger battery, and only a high end audio battery fits in the bay. So I understand how it works, but i have a couple questions.
1) I've seen on some cars (JJSPEC's Teg for example) there are terminals in the bay, what are those for and how do they wire up?
2) Kill switch, do I need it? I wont put it on the outside of my car, but is it worth mounting in the car somewhere, hidden?
Terminals in the bay or anywhere for that matter, make it easier to access the main battery wiring to ease "jumping off" or charging. If you relocate the battery and plan on running at the track a kill switch and a battery box are required, and safer. If you dont have a batt box and you have a buildup of Hydrogen gas(from the battery) in the trunk/hatch area, there is an explosion hazzard. The kill switch is nice to cut the circuit in case of accident, or other issues. Hope that helps.Originally Posted by Drummerboy

On "remote" terminals, you run a proper size batt positive to the red one off of the main battery cable and the black/neg can go right to ground.

So you just split off the positive battery cable? and the negative doesn't have to go back to the negative battery terminal, just the frame, correct?

u can go to Voltex on buford hwy, and they can cut you cables.. if your near there.
Im in Social Circle, but I just moved out here so im not sure if im near Buford hwy, lol. I normally go to innovative sound in Stockbridge, just because I know the area.
So would it be cheaper to buy a box and some j bolts, then get wires, or buy the Summit kit ($80)

i ran a boat circut board thing in my engine bay, battery in the trunk then it powered the board then i ran everything off it.... (in the top left corner of my engine bay).
and i may be cheaper than 80 bucks if you put it together yourself, way for me atleast
Make sure you find a good ground for the battery. A kill switch is ok, but it isn't really necessary.

That car doesn't really have a frame per-say. Find a good heavy piece of metal to attach the ground to. Make sure it has good contact with bare metal, and you use a good sized fastener to attach it. No sheet metal screws, or anything like that.Will do

You don't need a battery box if you have a Gel type battery IIRC.

Dry cell like a optima or those u dont need a box..
and you might as well do the kill switch now while you are doing the relocation. because if you go to the track you cant run without it..
I want it to be somewhat clean, so i'll use a box. And will it be okay to mount the kill switch somewhere in the trunk?
