Transmission??

Ok my friend has a 1997 Nissan Pickup when he engages the clutch it squeels loudly and the engine vibrates and cuts off,even while driving down the road when switching gears he would engage the clutch and it would squeel until he shifted gears however if he doesnt get it in gear quick enough it will cut off.Now truck will not start any idefas anyone? I said it was the clutch or pressure plate

Sounds like the pressure plate broke. Or the throw-out bearing is locked up.

well at first it would squeel then start now it doesnt start at all but when he did get it started he had to let out the clutch for it to keep running
