    Default PROBLEM DIAGNOSTIC HELP!

    Ok so Im on my way to work and pull up at the stop sign. Everything seems fine then. So i put the car into 1st gear and I hear a POP and the car revs and engages in to gear just fine but wont drive. WTF? So i try to turn it off and start in second gear and nothing... but i faintly hear a scrubbing type sound coming from the rear of the car. It is a 98 BMW 5 series . Is it a Axle, Driveshaft, WHAT? PLEASE HELP

    Sounds like a broken u joint. Not familiar with bmw drive train though.

    +1 on this I'm no BMW expert but check that rear joint sound like the culprit

    could be anything in the drivetrain. i could say this or that it would all be 1 huge guess until a tech looks at it.

    back wheel drive dont have axles
    but yea like what they said, check the drive shaft\joint

    It was the clutch... BMW has it now and I get my rent a car from them. Thanks for your inputs
