    Default Rod Knock like a SOB

    I currently drive a 1999 Lexus RX300. It has 249,500 miles on it and it started knocking two days ago. Today, I got the oil changed and its even worse..I'm about to go put some lucas oil in it, but its now thrown a check engine light and was struggling on the way home. Am I fucked?

    ^^ doesn't sound good. you may still be able to salvage that motor so long as your rod doesn't decide to shoot out the side of the block.

    There is no such thing as a "pour in mechanic". If it is indeed a rod knock then yes, you are fucked.

    Once it knocks, there is nothing you can do to repair. thicker oil will patch it but the engine is going to fail soon.

    Thought so...for the little amount of money I paid for the car its been great. I was hoping to get some money out of it before I get stationed in Tx.

    more than likely, you motor has sludged. mildly common on that motor. pull of your front valve cover and if it's sludged.......... you fuked

    I'm debating on just selling the car as it sits, get what little money I can. It's got a straight body and interior, but the USAF is sending me to training for 2 1/2 years and I won't need it.
