Default d16a6 head on d16y7 block

i need to know what I need to do to put a d16a6 vtec head on a d16y7 non-vtec block. Im not going to hook up vtec. Do I need to plug the vtec port on the head? Im just trying to make a running motor from the parts I have. Im going to use my OBD1 distributor, ecu, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
