    Default high compression pistons???

so im going to replace the piston rings in my car and was wondering should i throw high compression pistons while im at it (12:5:1) would it give me any hp gains on a stock ls? would it hurt my motor in anyway? i dont have a ton of money to start doing springs retainers rods etc...

I wouldnt go 12.5:1. A little high for pump gas and not tuning it. But you could mill the head slightly or get a thinner head gasket and get it in the 10 to 11 range. Much easier.... and cheaper.

id go with the pistons no that high of a comp. i wouldnt mill the head unless it warped. milling is a 1 way process. so if u dont like u have to but a new head.

Just raising the compression alone won't yield much hp increase. Save your money, and put it toward a nice valve job or even a port job on the head.

you will see gains, but you'll need to tune it. otherwise, lean and detonation will occur on a stock fuel and timing map.
