Default Stiffer springs on a stock valve train robs power due to friction? Any thoughts????

Please PM me on what your take on this is? I have D15B head I am building. Port and polish, 3 angle valve job, milling but I am keeping the stock cam and valves. If I go with performance springs only will this add power or take away ?

can explain to me y u need upgraded springs for a stock cam.

springs dont add power. they add reliability and ability when used with a bigger cam/cams.

Well see eventually I'm gonna boost the D series. I'm thinking about running 10 psi boost not more then this. I also expect the D to rev higher with the chipped P28 and the Hondata S300 set up. So again would I benifit for the springs with the stock valves and cam or would it be a waste of money. Can the stock springs and cam hold up to 8000 rpms? Even if I dont gain power will the springs and retainers add in any way to my build with the stock valve train and cam? The head that I have is a D15B vtec of a jdm motor. Any thoughts???

Would there be any benifit to putting after market springs and retainers with the stock cam and valve train? Even if it adds strength and reliability?

Well normally i would tell you that revving higher on a stock cam is silly but.........

I decided to look at some N/A d15b dynos and it looks like 8000rpms IS good lol.

    For example >

    Bisimoto Header
    stock jdm D15b head
    D16a6 sleeved bore to 78mm.
    cometic 80 thousands thick headgasket
    stock jdm d15b cam
    stock z6 intake manifold
    stock ignition
    no exhaust
    s300
    151 whp, 128 ft/lbs tq

In light of this the springs "could" be a decent reliability investment.

To answer the friction question: Yes, in theory. In the real world I doubt you would even see a 2hp loss honestly.

no it wont cause loss of power, none that you can accurately calculate which means less than a hp at most.
