    What is this stuff? It is all over the back of my car.

    i may mean that theres a lot of smokg and all cars get black shit on the back compared to the front. My jetta always got shit on the back b/c it was smoggy out and dirt in the air would not be blown off of the back due to wind force...if anyone understands it..

    if its oil, its either your valve seals or piston rings. if its rich... try changing spark plugs/plug wires and if that doesn't work check the timing.

    The A/F gauge reads lean so I guess that would mean oil.

    No it is not DSM it is a corolla. 97 with the 4AFE 1.6L.
