Question for all the walbro owners

I have a 255 walbro fuel pump in the teg.

And the thing whines like a bitch. You guys have the same issue?

It seems to have gotten worse lately. I dont know why. But when anything else that draws electical power from the car is engaged, I can hear the fuel pump whine drop down to a lower pitch, then pick back up where it was... like it lost a little power for a sec.

For example, if I turn on the headlights, use the blinkers, hit the brakes, put it in reverse.... anything which triggers a light to come on on the car, I can hear the fuel pumps noise change.

Does it mean its going bad? The car still runs perfectly.

Wally's are supposed to whine loudly. As for the change in pitch, I dont have that problem.

I don't have that problem, of course mine just died...


But before that never made any odd noises like you are describing.

hmmm. my fuel pump whines loud too. im not even sure if i have a walbro in there or not tho lol

some walbros are loud and some are not. Mine in my teg isnt loud at all, but i know someone that has one in a civic and you can hear it pretty good.

put a fuel pressure gauge on it and find out if it effecting your pressure.

nost 255 are louder then 190 due to pushing more fuel and all...so this is very normal

Yeah Ive heard that they usaully like to whine. Just couldnt find anything about the whole deal where the pitch of the whine changes.


Its done it ever since Ive owned the car, but it used to just do it whenever the car got completely warmed up and after some hard driving. Now it seems to do it as soon as I start it up.

Ill check with a fuel pressure guage when I get the chance though.

I would also check your grounds if the whine is changing with voltage load.
