    Default tapping noise

    i have an LS and it's making a tapping noise...would that be a stuck lifter or something else? it doesn't do it all the time...sometimes it taps loud and sometimes it's a little softer...did valve adjustment and added lucas oil stabilizer and still having the same issue...could someone tell me what they think the problem might be or what i can do to fix it?

    did the valve adjustment change it at all ?

    I doubt its the bottom end, he says it doesn't do it all the time..

    Guess you never heard one calm down after it warms up then>???


    Also sometimes if its a small knock it will tap louder when cold then less when its warm , and sometimes you can rev it up pass a certain RPM and it will be less noise also....

    I still say its a KNOCK!

    WHat work was perform before this problem?

    Head work?
    Cams?

    or did it just start on its own?



    ALso have you listen to it under the car???

    Is it louder under the car or on top of the motor?

    If on top , take the valve cover and see if a rocker arm is broke but if this was the case it would idle werd and run like a misfire

    No work....stock head...just started on its own... never listened to it under the car though...

    my engine does this too. it will make a tapping sound, like click click click click.. then nothing for a second or two. then click again. etc. ive always thot it was my valves maybe? would the engine still run strong if it were knocking? cause my car still pulls pretty hard
