Is it just me or will a turbo engine run down qicker on an Auto transmission then a NA engine?

I just never really thought the way that the autos shift os abruptley were to good for an engine or the tranny.

Like if an STi had an Auto option, i would imagine major problems with it, and it would not sound anygood.
