s12 drift
Im a noob, and I was wondering if anyone around here messes with the old school s12 200sx's (84-88). I am trying to build a drift car, and I need any advice you guys might have. Right now, the car is gutted, all the seams have been welded, and the feet have been welded in for the roll cage. I really need to know if anyone has put (or heard of putting) s13 suspension under it. Cool . . . let me know
ive been thinking about building a drift car out of an S12, one of my buddies said he'd sell me his for $500 and its in decent shape. Let me know how it turns out.

And your friend has a ca18 in a 240 im assuming so he'd have a ca18DET out of the 88- early 90 180SX/Silvia.
The ca18Et single cam turbo out of the s12 sucks more balls than the dual cam.

if he has a CA18ET in anything other than an S12 the he's wasted far too much time.
no, its got the ca20 in it, but that's coming out for the SR20det.
You're putting an sr in an s12? buy an s13 for 300 bucks an save yourself the trouble by dropping it in and wiring it.
good luck finding any decent suspension for the S12 after you blow a grip on the SR swap

ha ha . . thats exactly what everyone's been saying. Here's the story. Im a dsm guy, and thought it would be cool to go to the formula d event @ Road Atlanta last May. Anyway, to make a long story short I got totally infected with the whole thing, and 2 weeks later, got this car on ebay for $102.50. It was meant to be just a starter drift car, but over the last couple of months, Ive kind of grown attached to the ugly little thing. I know the motor will fit with some work. I know the front suspension will fit with some work. I think the s13 rear suspension will fit with a whole lotta work. I guess we'll see. . . . anyway, at least its keeping me outta the bars for a little while.

i doubt the 240 has the ca motor in it, im pretty sure that the 240's had the KA24DE in them hence the name 240 and the s13 180 had the sr20DET in it

180SX = Ca18de(t) switched to Sr in mid 90 because of production issues.
240SX=Ka24(d)e 91 up dual cam
Silvia=ca18de(t) and sr20de(t) changed in 90 also.
The ca18et and ca20e are both in america in the mid 80s 200sx. Both are garbage.

rb20 in an s12 is like a $350 investment. Somebody do it locally, please, and take it to a drift event. And take out signs with it.

3rd gen supra did it at SFS last weekend. It was the funniest thing i had ever seen.
were you not there when the hachi-broku nailed another one during the competition part? i still think the supra guy should have gotten the jackass award, but they gave it to the hachi guy since he was actually drifting most of the day, not autocrossing the front tires off the car.
Yeah I saw the red corolla do that. Actually I was walking back from KFC and saw a group of people runningaway from the parking lot. Then i saw the sign on the ground and put 2 and 2 together.
