it probably does you just dont feel it....
Yeah, get an intake, header and exhaust and you might hear it. Or you could get a VTEC controller and see it when the indicator turns red. But, I doubt you'll ever feel it.
its like honda with ninja on folks with the k-series.
i'd try what SiRed said, get an intake, header and see what it does. you should hear it either way though, well, that is if its like the rsx-s. i've heard the vtec in one of those fucking scream. like, i could hear my buddy leave his house from my house which is about a mile away straight line.
i have full skunk2 mega power exhaust and a fujita cold air, my buddy said that my head only has vtec on the intake side????? and that a head off a rsx type s would make a difference so i might try that.
^ correct
those hit vtec at 2200 and do not "pop" as you say. the a3 isn't like an a2 motor that has more of a real vtec.

it's because the vtec on a K20a3 is more like vtec lite lol. It engages at 2200 rpm as scotty said, and all it does is change the valvetrain from operating on 12 valves to 16. It is for fuel economy, not performance, it isn't like a b-series where it changes cam profiles to a more aggressive performance profile. There really isn't much you can do to make it audible short of swapping out for a K20a2.
Side question, I haven't paid much attention to the shitty A3 motors, do they utilize the variable cam phasing like the other K-series?
Who knows?
