Question works on hondas y not chevy?

so ok i have an '05 cavalier but ive already put the '06 Cobalt SS supercharged motor in it. The Cavalier came with the 2.2 Ecotec motor and the Cobalt motor is a 2.0 Ecotec motor. Well i have the idea to take the head from the 2.0 and put my 2.2 block under it and back in my car. People do this all the time with like a B16 head and B18 block or a B18 head and B20 block. Hell i had a CRX with a B18 block and B16 head. So anyways what do yall think, think i should yank it all out and try that? I mean if it dont work than i can always just put my 2.0 back together and put it back in.

On hondas there is some extra work involved, it doesn't just bolt it on and work. The oil passages on the VTEC head don't match up with a NON-VTEC Block. It requires doing work to the head, or using a oil line routing kit. Don't know if thats the same case for these 2 motors or not. But if you just slap it together, and don't know what your doing, you won't be just putting the stock motor back together and slapping it in without a full rebuild. You get it wrong, and you starve the engine of oil which will damage every moving part. My advise is to check some cavalier/cobalt forums and see what they are doing. If it's even somewhat easy there will already be people doing it that can give you the info you need.

What makes you think that the older head design is better than the new one?

^^^He's talking about putting the new head on his older block for more displacement. You must have read something wrong. New head-older block.

You might want to look into the specifications on the engine as well. The 2.0 may have a lower compression ratio w/ forged internals to handle the boost provided by the supercharger, while the 2.2 block may not. If the blocks/ cranks are identical I'd suggest taking the crank/rods out of the 2 liter block and getting 2.2 pistons that will provide a similar compression ratio, maybe pistons that are for sale for turbo equipped Cavaliers or something like that.

    just my $.02
