sounds like the alternator is starting to go. like its not charging at low rpms.

TRUST ME: Having had the Audi die the exact same way, it is very very likely your Alternator. I was driving along one day and let off the gas, came to a stop and battery light popped on. Was freaked out but just kept driving, couple minutes later the battery light went back off and I just forgot about it. three days later I did the same thing, slowing down to stop the battery light popped on and my volts dropped from 14 to 12. I needed to get across Cobb to Acworth from fulton so I just kept driving, when I was on 41 I was down to 9 volts and you could hear my relays clicking as they were running out of juice. It sucked.

Pull the alt and have it bench tested at slow speeds as well as high. If it checks out it might be wiring.

It did it to me when I had a 1990 eclipse... idle hunted and would shut off if I let it get that low... The battery light would come on, as you had the key turned to ACC, it would only go off at higher RPM's...

the light came back on...now it's not goin off unless i rev it really hard. so i'm guessin the alternator is pretty much shot.
