I have just put a b16a2 in a 99 si and it's making a loud poping noise almost like gun shots has any one had a similar problems the cel light did come but will check it tomorrow.

the b16 sounds like it wants to start and almost does but at the same time makes that loud popping noise it loud, I checked the compression its good all the way across what I did see is that the plugs had fuel on them.
and its not knocking b/c if it was it would start and I could clearly hear if its knocking.
spark plugs/wires/cap/rotor/ignition coil
Where do you hear the popping noise from? If the noise is coming from the back of the car, its backfiring.
Most likely something in your ignition system is not working. \

Popping noise is from the exhaust, I am thinking the is either the firing order.
ok so its backfiring from the exhaust check timing and yes firing order

Thanks everyone the problem was that for some reason It took the firing order from the first gen b16 that's weird but worked. LOL
