    Default Steering rack question?????

Ok so i have a 2001 DC2 and im taking the power steering out,ive taken power steering systems out before with no prob on my 95 civic ex and on my truck i had way back when.A few people have told me my 2001 i cant take it out and use the stock steering rack, they said i have to get a manual steering rack or it will lock up?I thought i could just keep power steering fluid in the loops to the rack and re-loop the connections? Anyone could supply some advice it would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

I have done this many times, just what I did was remove everything but the rack an blocked/plugged the hole up with a bolt or something you can install with out tearing or stripping the threads so you can use it again if needed too...

Never once did I ever have a problem and sometimes I installed everything back for a re-sale and they never had a issue either

so what are you planning on doing? plug or loop it? i'd loop it so there's more P/S fluid flowing around.

There will be no extra fluid around whats in the rack an thats it

how installing a EMPTY hose going to give it more fluid when there isnt any in the hose?

Your actually trapping air in the system that way

mmm fill up the hose to the best of your abilities. i've always been told to loop it and that's what i did. And my advices are based upon my experience. =P i dont doubt your plugin plan either.

True, but to me I will not do it that way, if you plugg it off an dont have a leak there is no reason to do all of that...

Just someone was bored an wanna make it look cool....

I will stick to my bolt/plug way Been doing this for more then 10 years now an never a issue

he gets the chance to flare the brake lines! experience ftw. no problems because u might just be a strong motherfucker. =P lol i was thinking of the friction that causes heat and eventually the fluids might evaporate somehow.

so they dont have a manual steering rack from another honda that would fit my DC2?I ask because a manual rack would operate smoother than this jimmy rig system? or about the same?

i doubt u can use a civic rack for a teg. i had a ps rack and i looped it, but i bought a new DX rack and slapped it on... yes it's smoother to me.

    No

and yes a manual rack is alittle better due to the gear ratio in the rack, but no other will work in the integra
