The sump you use will depend on which GTE motor you get, but if you use one from an Aristo, well it's front sump, so it won't work. The N/A oil pan will work, as will the one from the USDM MKIV. Obviously, if you go with the N/A, you'll need to drill the oil return line, so keep that in mind too.
So best bet, no hassle would to be going with the MKIV pan...Correct?
USDM MKIV oil pan, yes. It's less work. I also highly recommend you don't use an Aristo 2JZ unless you wanna increase your work load. It's the same motor (along with some minor differences), but it requires more work for SC fitment. If you can find a US spec Supra motor, that's the best option, with a JDM Supra motor will being the next best choice. I've already been through all this with the swap on my SC, it's a pretty big job, especially if you make things harder on yourself, lol.Originally Posted by WhiteAccord
Hey thanks for the great info. With the USDM motor what kind of work is needed for it to work? And the extra work with a JDM one.
There's a bunch of stuff. More than I care to list, lol. Is this something you're doing yourself, or do you have a shop available to you? It's not terribly difficult, well, the wiring is a bit of a nightmare, but it can be quite "involved".Originally Posted by WhiteAccord
Here's the 2 links to threads of my car. The first one is back when I first did the swap. The second one is closer to what it looks like now. Sorry for no motor shot on the current setup, but I really haven't popped the hood for anyone, lol. Anyway, I ran the thing bone stock for awhile and it was still a really fun car, but usually, most people who do this swap have much bigger plans!

Im doing it my self, I know about the wirirng. The one thing was the extension of the wires itself which I was going to have a profecsional do. But the only mechanical thing I know about is the oil pan in which I need to swap or not. Other than that I heard it was pretty much a direct swap, since the GE Vs. GTE were basically the same motor.
BLAH on the wiring extension!!!! It sux, so I hear. I think our guys have it mastered now though. BUT I remember Brandon screaming during the process a few timesOriginally Posted by WhiteAccord
The motors are not a direct swap, at least not in terms of reusing engine mounts. I remember that much. The mounts themselves swap over, but you'll need the MKIV TT mounts, which ones, I don't remember. There's 2 different sets. '93-96 and '97-'98. I would have to check them to make sure before I pointed you in the correct direction with that. Also, water pump and housing, oil pump, pickup and sensors, fuel rail, fpr, injectors with resistor box, just to name a few. Also, extending the harness is only part of it. There are some wires on the body plugs that need to be rewired, or gauges won't read correctly. There really is a lot to it. Dan even had the "Ultimate Lexus" manual, which details the entire swap, and it was still pretty involved. Just giving you a bit of a heads up, as there is a lot of misinformation, particularly on this swap, floating around.
Hmmm,,... Where is this ultimate lexus manual? I am in no hurry in doing the swap or rushing through the swap itself.
If you could point out to any sources I can try and search myself.
How much would you guys charge to have the wires extended and what not to work on an SC300?Originally Posted by Tracy
We do plug and play wiring conversions for the 2JZ/SC300 swap (along with every other Toyota and Lexus swap) for $450. Guaranteed plug and play, and extended to use the factory routing.
Tracy, we offer the same service other shops and have a business discount available as well. Shoot me a pm or email [email protected] if you have any interest
