Well in that case, hes all good, and got more power. but im pretty sure, that its a direct bolt on. the changes are from the intake/exhaust manifolds.. that gave more power i believe. same setup tho.

Check out : www.clubprotege.com if you got more questions alot of 2nd gen owners that can help out! Im a 1st gen guy..dont know too much about the 2nd gens..

There is no difference in the Jdm/usdm Na 1.8 BP dohc, but the 1.5 Z5 dohc motor.. has a more hp i believe it has 97-105hp, and the us has 86hp. i do think that they also might have different Intake manifolds on them.

lol after searching on Cp, i see you have posted over there.... you shoudl have hit me up! im a mod over there. But anyway.. It does seem like its a direct swap. but if you havent got the motor already, id look into just putting the 1.8 bp in it.. more power and all around great motor! but the Z5 isnt a slouch either.. it makes great boosted power!

haha yeah i was thinking the z5 becoming a boosted beast. LOL but nah you saw the posts right? i gave up on there. we were checking out the engines early this morning and noticed the obvious intake manifold differences but that was about it

her old motor had a blown head gasket, so therefore her motor blew. she's on a budget and already got the jdm z5. yeah we checked the intake manifold and it was definitely different but would u have to switch out the intake manifold? also the exhaust manifold looks da same but im not to sure

yeah i noticed that..well pretty much since i've had the car there's been small issues here and there let's say later on it led to my head gasket being blown and given the only option of getting a new motor on a very limited budget

just replace the head gasket all mazda motors are non interference so u should be fine. u can get a good gasket kit for about 80 bucks. even the 3 layer one.

corksport takes too long. go to imazda.com a lot of 2g owners there too. or ebay.. their are a lot of mazdaspeed body parts out there as well. and even the yahoo groups have a few dealers in taiwan/malyasia that sell parts in the us.

I thin kit might just be because of the Manifold, id say, if your that worried about it, just install it how it is, and if you have issues just swap out the intake manifold. But i htink it might be the 4wire Tps..or 3, im not sure which you have, and which one is on that motor.

I still say you Protege owners buy the factory touring car engines from Mazda, nothing like a 200+whp NA engine.
