Default 86' Corolla GTS (best suspension?)

One of my good friends recently picked up a 86' Corolla GTS in very good condition.

He wants to upgrade the suspension asap and get a solid set up.

Fully adjustable, moderately stiffer spring rate.
Use would be for: Spirited Driving/Daily Driving

    Total: $1000 or less.

Now I know nothing about older toyota's but I want to find the best suspension set up to recommend to him.

With my car I have KYB AGX with Ground Control coilover spring. It is pretty solid on a Honda.
But, I am not sure if it would be the same for a Ae86 (or even if they manufacture suspension it)

So what do you think is best for the money IA?

also, from what ive read the general would be a 8kg up front and 6kg in the back for daily driving with some abuse.
