Difference in engine code?

Im looking @ 02 sensors for a D16y8 both before cat and after cat. will the o2 sensors for a D16y7 work for the y8? Online they are listing them all together. I guess what im asking is the plug-in different, functions different, or whatever. I gotta get my girl's car to pass emissions. Im still getting o2 sensor #2 malfunction after replacing it with an universal sensor. Thanks for any help guys...



edit.......Also im seeing sensors before and after. are there really any difference except maybe wiring length or are they totally different.

The sensors themselves are the same, but the a few things may be different like the length of the cable etc.

Take a look at your car, if the cable length etc is the same, the same part number will probably work.
