Default how to repair power cord (for a tv), bad connection at plug?

my tv's power cord has a bad connection at the end where it plugs into the wall. only way i can get it to sometime get power is if i bend it in dif. directions where it meets the plug until it gets power, then when i let it go and it bends back, its back to no power. i dont want to zip tie it bent over so it works or something, to hard to even get it to a spot where it will work.

will i be able to cut the cord about 2 inches back, gut the back of the wall plug and re-wire it? if so anything i need to avoid doing and try to do?
