    Default installing rpm tach

    well im trying to install a small rpm tach on my rb25det in my s13 and i tied it into one of the ignition coils like it said in the instruction... well that didnt work so i was wondering if ne one knew another way or something

    heres how it goes:

    red wire - tap into car's power. But, it has to be a power source that turns off when the car turns off otherwise you'll run out your battery when the car is off. Lol, theres plenty of other things to choose from other than the ignition coil, just look around a little bit and you'll find something.


    black wire - ground

    green wire - tap into rpm signal wire


    and there you go. Thats all there is to it.

    On some you have to snip a wire or 2 depending on 4/6/8 cylinder I think......

    Depending on which brand you buy, it can just be a little switch in the back of the tach to select between 4/6/8 cylinders......
