    Default 240sx not starting.

So I need some help. I have an 89 5spd coupe and its not starting. I went to the car wash and cleaned my car yesterday. Then I drove to a friends house and parked my car. A friend called because he blew a tire and wanted help so I went to my car and it wouldn't start. Its not turning over or anything. Electronics are on and working but it won't crank. We had to push it down a hill to get it to start so I could get home again.. I don't know whats wrong.

    Can anyone help me?

Could be your starter... did you wash the engine? check your fuse to the starter...

I only washed the exterior. I'm about to go take out the starter.

if u wanna check that go under your steering column where the clutch pedal is, there's a two wire plug that connects to a switch on the clutch pedal assembly... unplug this plug and find something to connect these two pins together on this switch (paper clip, staple, some wire) and see if your car starts then...

I tried that with the ignition switch and it didn't help. I'll go try with the one you said and see how it goes. Thanks!

Wait, is it the plug behind the clutch, or in front of the clutch?

Battery is fine. Its brand new.

The only noise that we've heard came from around the air intake area and it was a clicking I think, my dad heard it each time I turned the key.

I don't think its the starter because the starter is on the opposite side of the motor from the clicking..
And also, they put their starter on the tester and it performed the same way mine did.

I would say start checking for shorts then. When you turn the key does the dash lights dim/go off?

hmm. check your battery agian. get a voltmeter or try another one like your friends just for a second. usally when i hear clicking like that from any car it usally needs a jump because the battery is dead. even tho its brand new it could be defective or have a dead cell. just doulble check it just to make sure to cover all your areas.

We tried jumping the car yesterday off my friends 300zx. Nothing happened.

check relay and fuses.... could be a bad relay...also check if you have proper grounding, check for any loose ground cables and check the cables that connect to the starter...
