Spark plug gap and advanved timing!!!!!

Does anyone know the spark plug gap for the JDM SOHC non-vtec ZC motor???? I can't find it anywhere......and the spark plugs are burn all the way out!!! Also I was told that my car needs to have the timing retarded to help it pass emission for NOx it's sucking in tooooo much air and was told it might have been advanced to make more power......how can I retard the timing with out the timing gun????? What does it mean to turn the distributor and how would I do it???? HELP!!!!!!

loosen the 3 bolts on the dizzy and twist it to the left or right i forgot..
