Default I CAN'T SEE! no headlights..

So a few weeks ago my right headlight went out.. I thought it was burned so i looked at it.. didn't look burnt but u can never tell jus by lookin.. Anyways I have no $ so i jus put it back.. A few days later it came back on.. not burned out.. It would go off and on randomly..

Last week BOTH headlights went out.. I smacked one and it came back on.. now they r both out for good.. so they aren't burnt out.. wut r they?

Anyone know wut I should check? Or wut I can do to get them workin again? wiring? shorts? fuses? j/w if its happened to you.. lemme know..(will reward with rep :P )

Replace both of the lights first there buddy. Sometimes the filliment gets loose and will still make random contact with the post. Try that first.

They would have gone out at the same time if it were a fuse it seems. But worth checking as well.

no they wouldnt ... had a 94 civic 4 door do this same **** to me the other day ... replaced the fuse when only 1 headlight was working and without replacing the bulb both started working again ! ... Check fuses !

EDIT: check the fuses with a voltmeter on both posts of the fuse or with a voltage light ... ive seen some fuses not work and not blown and it wouldnt let the right amount of current out ...

Not neccessarily....my accord has individual fuses for each side headlight (right / left). possibly the wrong watt bulb, resulting in your headlight harness melting in some spot grounding out??? Maybe you have those "bright" SYLVANIA halogen bulbs they are notorious for causing this problem.

Sounds to me like either a wiring problem or a bulb problem. I would check voltage from the sockets and back to the fuse block, also check and see if the sockets are corroded. Either that or like stated above, the filaments could be loose inside the bulb.

    i would try this first

if the fuses check out then i would check the switch and make sure its still working correctly.

all of these are free. no reason to buy parts u dont need.

I wouldn't call it bad info at all. It's simple logic really. Light goes out, replace the bulb. Just because I'm new to this board does not make me a complete idiot. That's what I get for trying to help I suppose. My word is not the final word, just a friendly suggestion to the guy. Thanks for everyone taking my suggestions so damn serious.
