    Default Gas gauge

Alright so I've had this problem since I bought the car and just never really worried about it, but I think its time to figure it out.

When I fill my car completely up, the gauge says that I'm about 7/8 full. It sits on that line for like 50-70 miles and then moves like normal. When I get really low I never have a gaslight come on either. I've put like 11.7 gallons in without a gas light being on and then it only went to its highest resting place.

    Any suggestions?

Car is a 2000 si and I've checked and the gas tank has no dents on the bottom of it.
Gas is too expensive to drive hard and my insurance can't take anymore fast.
