I recommend you pump PREMIUM only because the car has been timed at 17*-18* and if running on regular, you have a more of a chance detonating. Plus advanced timing is a BIG costless HP gain in the sr20de. You don't HAVE to use PREMIUM, but its up to you. Pumping premium (shell v-power, BP ultimate) also improves performance to me.

yeah man 87 octane is fine. If you were running boost it would be another story but gas is too da*n expensive to waste it on a stock DE with a header. Now if you were boostin or VE it would be another story...

unless your running turbo or super charger or nitrous then no. but i would atleast recomend mid grade to eliminate knocking and gunk build up

As far as running premium for less buildup, its not going to do anything. Run quality gas and you're fine. Gas from a quality station all has the same amounts of additives and alcohol, regardless of regular or premium. The only difference is the knock rating. Depending on how far you've advanced the timing it may be necessary to use premium but otherwise 87 is fine for 9.5:1.

I actually ran my B13 for a little over a year on 90 octane, while boosting 8.5 lbs from a T3/T04E. Never had any knock, and the pistons didn't show any signs of detonation either. This wasn't done by choice, but I was living in North Pole, Alaska at the time and 90 was/is the highest octane gas up there.
