i dont understand
depends on the car, your gearing, your tranny and your final drive. My slushy (with mods and 30,000lb cooler) takes beatings like that all the time, and comes back for more. I usually drop to 2nd from drive, but a drop to 1st would just push your revs up higher. Does the car still run and drive? Were you racing? What sort of vehicle is it? Is it modded?
My car is factory....
Every single performance part and or modification it has was made in a factory somewhere.
uhm... wtf? were you at 3000 rpms in Drive at like over 60mph and shifted down into D1 or something?
Thats what it sounds like lol. I want to know how he did that.Originally Posted by SiRed94

in my golf '95. drivin' thru my neighborhood at night. there are these driving techniques to better fuel mileage so i thought i try them out.
anyway. took it up to 3000 rpm. third then into drive. then shut the engine off. shifted to third 'cuz thought it might help me coast up the hill a little better.
but unfortunately.. shifter jumps.. so third to first.
so yeah. terrible squealing and almost stalls out for a second. and now when i drive in any gear there's a high pitched revving.. like a top about to take off into space.. and first is pretty much shot. i'm upset/pissed.. ..damn me.
guess i finally have an excuse to get something new.
