    Default Engine block ????s

when you hone an engine block do you need to bore it as well? and when you get it balanced w/ rods and pistons do you need to balance the flywheel as well?

Usually the block will be bore prior to being honed. Block are usually bored for a few reasons.. going to oversized pistons, excessive p2w clearance from the bore being worn, or bore taper. If you dont need to bore your cylinders then just honing them should suffice. Usually just the internal rotational mass is balanced, meaning pistons rods & crank. I suppose you could have the flywheel balanced if you wish but ive never heard of it being done at the same time was the rotational mass

u can hone it without a bore. its not good practice but u can do it. most times if im working on a car that needs a hone and the ill have the cylinders checked for roundness first and bore size. then bore and hone .2.

your flywheel should be balanced if its new. if it used and needs to be resurfaced i would have it rebalanced with the setup your using just for that extra reassurance.

    just my

oh yea i sold this guy "Black_EK9" some B16 pistons on LS Rods w/ ARP rod Bolts the other day,

When u are ready for balancing go ahead and tell the machine shop to balance everything, the full rotating assembly(flywheel, crank pulley, etc.)

Just let the machine shop Hone it for u too while your at it, dont bore it cuz than you'll have to get oversized pistons when u just purchased my B16 pistons(there 81mm bore and that'll be wastin money 2)

*So get the hone and a new set of OEM honda piston rings(STD size), OEM rod bearings too! like i told u before

    * get everything balanced again eventhough mine were balanced;they were for my crank, etc...
