I am removing the entire ac system from my 95 civic soon just to clean up the engine bay. the problem is the system is charged with r134a. I was wondering what is the best way to discharge the system without killing myself. thanks

release it into the atmosphere. r134 doesnt hurt you unless it comes in contact with a heat source, and hell it doesnt even harm the environment.
I dont care about the enviroment, I just dont wanna breathe any of it.
noo noo.. ermmm you just go open ur hood.. and just twist the caps off and turn it as you please... turn it more when u want to release more but remember to keep your hand on the cap so that it'll freeze you!Originally Posted by slovic-fcc

well it still wont hurt you but just slowly unscrew one of the ends and let it bleed out
just bolt the lines ull be fine.
the true way to remove coolant in your AC lines is to get it sucked out at a professional shop so that it does harm you, it doesnt harm the environment, and you dont get dirty ... usually its free
that might be the true way to do but i know my shop chargesto do it. unbolting its there isnt any risk to him and no harm to others. its a truely free way so y not.Originally Posted by 1siccEJ2
