    Default engine light is on, please help!!

    Guys, i need help here.
    i have passat 99 v6 glx, the check engine light is on. anybody knows how to turn it off ? cause im selling my car now, and somebody wants to take a look at it. Please help me. Thanks

    i think u can take ur car up to autozone and they will check it for u

    disconnect your battery for about 20 sec that will clear it for a little while

    take it to an auto place, they just hook it up to a lil machine thing, and turn it off, and they never charge me.
    i usually don't tighten my gas cap thingy tight enough, and that's why mine comes on.

    Thanks for the input, i tried to unhook the battery and it still didn't work.
    i think im going to bring this to the autoplace. Thanks

    watch the banner ads at the top of the forum, keep refreshing the page and you'll eventually see the ad for Eurotech. i believe they will read the codes for free if i remember correctly. then instead of half assing it to sell it you can fix it properly.

    Most of the time engine light can come on without any engine codes. You need a obd 2 device to check for engine codes and turn them off.
