Have to Use Premium Gas for Prelude?

For preludes, it tells you to use PREMIUM Gas Only. Will the Gas mileage or power effect anything if i use the Regular Gas? or Effect the Car?

you can use mid grade its ok. but if you keep using reg the motor pings and can cause damage.but it all depends on the person.my dads 94 sh uses only primeum and it has about 140,000 i have been in newer preludes with the same motor and close to the same miles and the dont pull near as hard.its really worth it if you wanna keep the car for a wile.and i would also still sugest if you do uses a lower grade gas use primeum ever other couple tanks at least.

I hope you meant to say 94 Si. I have never heard of an SH until the 5th Gen. ITs ok, I have made the same slip before.

I have had an 86Si, 93Si and now a 98 Base. I guess I can let you slide by on this one.

Yeah. It says in the manual, that 91 octane or higher is required. I asked the same question when I first bought my Prelude. And decided just to spend the extra few dollars for ease of mind.

using other than 91octane will hurt your fuel economy and power BOTH i've heard.

Because the car is precisely tuned for 91 octane.
