    Default stuck strut and spring

    ive been swappin out my springs and the top mount is stuck to the strut. i think its rusted on. ive been wailin on it for 6hrs its nt coming loose. the drivers side popped right off but the passenger side is killin me. any suggestions to get it loose ive already tried wd40 and hittin it w/ a hammer?

    same thing happened to me. i took out the whole shock assembly, kept a wrench on the nut and allen key in the shock (top part), then laid it on the ground and had someone keep a foot on it so it wouldnt move (keep the wrench to the ground) and step on the allen wrench untill it breaks loose

    ive got the top nut off. its like the top mount pearch is rusted to the strut i cant get it off.

    are you sure you took the tophat nut off? with it off the hat should come right off with little to no effort. if you really believe its stuck, turn the shock upside down with the hat facing the ground and hit it with a hammer as hard as you can in multiple places around the hat

    thats kinda strange, it should just come right off, i would put the nut back on, just hand tight so when it does come off it want pop all over the place. they just hit the hell out of it.

    Get a bigger hammer or....

    Stick it in the freezer for an hour or wrap it in dry ice then use a torch or heat gun on the "top perch".

    the hammering didnt work and i dont have at torch so i ended up spending 50 bucks for pep boys to take it off. they had to press it out. the inside purch had rusted to the strut. 16yr old cars u gotta love em.
