blueish white smoke from exhaust?

i have a 94 EG sedan with roughly 150xxx miles , it has the D15b7 motor , when i get up to higher rpm's , or down shift kinda hard , i blow out some blueish white smoke , i am assuming piston rings ?, any info would be greatly appreciated! thanx in advance

someone told me to do the headgasket. i kindasorta have that problem too.

Also, i think that means that there is some coolant getting into your cylinders somehow..which = headgasket.

blueish smoke is usually oil. possibly valve seals, possibly piston rings. faulty head gaskets usually cause oil to get into the coolant system or visa versa. symptoms would be milky oil or oily coolant, and usually over heating.

it never overheats but my temp needle sometimes "dances" but never gets to full hot , if that makes any sense

Sounds to me like your getting oil blow by the rings at high RPM. A compression test and leak down test will tell if it's rings or head gasket. A somewhat quick and dirty way to determine the possibility of a head gasket failure is to pull the spark plugs and see if any of them look really, really clean (my Pops always referred to it as whitewashed).

FWIW, I've dealt with several head gasket failures and exactly none of them have allowed coolant to mix with the engine oil. To have oil and coolant mix, it will depend greatly on where the head gasket blows. Usually, failures occur between the piston bore sealing surface and the water jacket allowing the exhaust gases into the coolant and coolant into the cylinder to be combusted (thus the white smoke).

I say rings or HG its not the valve seal it would smoke at low rpms after sitting for a minute and at start up. Do a compression test and a leak down. That will tell you what you need to do.
