    Default pilot bushing???

ok guys (and gals) heres the situation. i'm converting my car from a auto to a 5-speed. my car is a 96 lx 2.2 f22b2 4 door and the trans came out of a 95 2 door ex f22b1 2.2 vtec. ok i was wondering if my car needs a pilot bushing or bearing. some people tell me it does and some tell me it doesn't. also i heard that if you didn't use one that it would crack the casing. i don't know what to believe. i've even contacted the dealership and the parts depo wasn't too sure. please help asap. thanks

You will probably have to buy one new.

You'll be replacing it later ayways.

dead center of the flywheel should be a bearing. if there isnt 1 there your going to need it. i think they are about 15-20 at the dealship.

well i called the dealership and they said there wasn't one for my car.. i've been told a hundred diff things. but the latest i heard from a ford mechanic respected by my friends and myself for buildin some bad stangs. anyways he said that some didn't have a pilot bushing because the shaft is so short. now he said that he thinks but is not completely certain. also what kind of tranny fluid should i use i've had a hundred diff. things about that too ( synthetic power steering fluid, 80w 90, 5w-30 motor oil. etc.)
but the latest i heard was to use gm synchromesh. he gave me a part number but is that ok to use in a honda trans i know theyre kinda touchy about some things. thanks

two things that im positive on...

    1. according to this display, you dont need a pilot bearing, and if honda doesnt offer one for that 95 ex, then there is not one.

    2. use Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) its cheaper than most high end motor oils, so just go to the dealership and pick some up. it will keep your syncros from going out as quick
