Default Good shop to tune on E85.

Whats a good shop to get my turbo car tuned on E85. I know most of the major shops ( Mainstream, Battleground, Balanced, etc...), but which of these shops has good experience with tuning on E85. LMK.

Another question: Your fuel setup is equipped to run E85? You do know ethanol will deteriorate the rubber fittings, lines, o-rings in the fuel system, right?

Yes. There is alot of good info on Honda-tech.com about it.

Dans Senior Project at Georgia Tech was on Ethanold.... I would say he is more than qualified to tune your setup.

Ed at balanced has tuned some cars on it, and you can get e85 in symrna off cobb parkway. I filled up on it a few times, was alot cheaper then regular gas, i know i should have kept that truck!

Dan at BG or Ed at Balanced are prob the only 2 people in Atlanta that have any e85 experience.

Im not sure , but you could try Siegel at Topspeed too, he does alot of methanol cars, but im not sure of his e85 experience.

The motor was completely rebuilt w/ these parts. I plan on runing 10-11psi. Mainly E85 because of the cost and octane rating.

Im not sure, but i think you end up running double the fuel w/ e85 setups. Ending up costing you the same amount lol. But like i said i dunno for sure.

It's not double. Its more like 10-15% more. There is alot of good info on Honda-tech. Look under the forced induction section and search for E85.

Alot of people are making good power and they are really happy with it.

The last time I bought E85, about 4 days ago, it cost $2.60 per gallon.

In brazil theyve been running ethanol since the 80s. They say that the price of ethanol has to be 70% or less of the price of gasoline for it to be financially more efficient. We have ethanol (100% not 85%) and gasoline at every gas station (they call it gasoline but E25 would be more accurate; pure gasoline is not available). Most cars 2003+ have a sensor that tells the ECU what the gas/ethanol ratio is in the tank and the ecu will adjust the timing and the amount of fuel injected into the motor so that the car can run on 100% ethanol, 100% gas or any ethanol/gasoline mixture. Everyone is constantly comparing ethanol/gas prices over there lol.

But e85 has a 105-110 octane rating.... When you compare that to race gas, which is like $9 a gallon you are saving alot.

It actually works out to about 25 to 30 percent more fuel I think. Ill try and get Dan on here on Monday to answer some of your questions.

We've done a number of cars with E85. Cleve's that they are talking about was a road-raced EVO that made 530+ whp on the stock block on E85. That's all he ever drove it on. We found that it runs at an effective 109 octane. The tuning on E85 and the tuning on the VP MS109 were very similar in power. You do want to make sure that your fuel system can handle a full 30% more than it needed to on 93.

Doug has done a number of big cars on E85. I've done a handful of smaller stuff, but Cleve's was the first "big" turbo on straight E85 that I was involved with. He went to twin Walboro's and 1200CC injectors. No problems after that.

Let us know if there is anything we can do for you,

Thank for all you guys responses. How much do you guys think its gonna cost me to get this thing tuned?? I know shops usually charge around $140 per hour, but how many hours does it normally take? I have budgeted for about 2.5. What do you think?
