damn, no one has any Dseries knowledge? So basically is there anyone here that has used a y8 short block with a z6 head? This will make wiring alot easier! LOL!

Use the Y8 Pistons in the short block. Also for more info on the build go to d-series.org that is where I did alot of my research for my z6 build. I am using the p29 dome top pistons out of an a1 or zc. that is the most helpful site I found. I used this compression calculator to see what I was going to get http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/dcalc.htm I tried your y8 with a z6 head and you are actually going to loose compression over stock. If you are going to go with a turbo that is ok but you are going to loose some power too. All you are really gaining is the vtec.
