when I got pulled over for illegal tint on my truck the officer said that the front doors have to be 32% but the rest can be as dark as I wanted I have 5% on the back 3 and had 20% on the front doors. As far as the front windshield a simple rule of thumb is put a dollar bill up on itfrom the top and if the tint comes below it then its illegal

No you can not. All windows on a passenger vehicle have to be 32%. No matter what window. Later, QD.

The laws for trucks and cars are different. QD is right on the money with % of tint for cars. Trucks is 32% on doors and as dark as you want on back windows.

32% light passage minimum, with 20% light reflectivity maximum, on any window. The top 6" of the windshield may be tinted as much as 32% light passage.

The exceptions are rear windows on buses, limos, and vans owned by schools or churches. Government vehicles also have a complete exemption from the rule.

Reinstated May 2005. Not even news any more. If you don't like it then write your state reps and Sonny and tell them that they're idiots and you won't be voting for them again.

Oh, and there is no distinction made by the current law differentiating trucks and cars. Application varies based on the officer and judge "interpreting" the law, but overall it's pretty clear. 32% all the way around with the windshield clear except at the top. Pretty standard stuff. Oh, and you can't have red tint.

Edit again, to add a link Includes the text of the current law, including the code citation, easy to read. See section C for exemptions which do not include the rear window of trucks.

No problem, if we had continued arguing about it I would have told you guys that I'd go get the book when the Library at KSU re-openned and actually snapped a few shots of it in print lol.

I spent a whole semester doing legal research, it was a class I actually enjoyed too.

Who was arguing? I posted up the correct info. You just took the time to reiterate and delve further into a simple question with a more lengthy and descriptive answer. Later, QD.
