    Default jetta 94-99 question....

people that have taken dash apart would only know the answer.....but anyways, what are the 2 black boxes on driver side inside the dash? One box has 2 plugs and one has 1.

I took the wires out and it seemed to make my blinkers flash. Is this a alarm or something? I was wondering if it could have something to do with my car not starting. Maybe a short?

im just wondering what they are though.
