Default intermediate shaft what does it do?

Alright my car has a intermediate shaft, they have a upgraded axle setup with no intermediate shaft, just a longer axle.. is gonna make a difference in anything? i hear eliminating it will help torque steer..

as long and you're angles are the same and there is no binding (which there shouldn't be as only 1 shaft) you're golden, i see no down side to it. that side should be able to "rotate" alot smoother etc etc less points of transition! go for it!

13b soldier, I think he was talking about an intermediate shaft on the axle, not the steering column. yes, you can switch it out for a long axle on both sides. the intermediate shaft acts as an extension of your gear box mostly to control wear and tear on axles. less play in the drive line means better response as well. a performance axle in its place will help with torque steer too.
