Exclamation Fog light wiring question....Caused battery drain

I wired up some fog lights to my car earlier today, and i drove it somewhere...parked it for a while, and then when i came back, the battery was DEAD. I had my hot wire essentially attatched to my battery. OBVIOUSLY this wasnt the place to put it. Where can i splice my hot wire into so that it wont drain my battery??

no, you need to tap into a power source that has a switch, otherwise your lights will be on the whole time the cig lighter has power. if you dont mind the fogs being on whenever your lights are on i would just tap into your headlights.

that changes things but i would still tap into the headlights unless you plan on running the fogs without your headlights off

This sounds like an electrical fire waiting to happen. Make sure you have some in line fuses and such because this sounds ghetto. And near your fuse box you should have some 12v power sources that only work when the car is on, so you can probably tap into one of those.
