first riding experience!!! woot!

jsut took delivery of my 93 ninja 500. i took it in about a 1.5 mile circle.

i loved it. first time on a bike. i had only ridden a 100cc dirtbike for about 5 minutes 3 days before, but nothing else.

it was cold lol. but at 30 i felt like i was going faster like 45. its weird using hte blinkers after in cars for years. i loved the experience though. i wont get to ride it til thursday evening or this weekend, but i look forward to it.

so far i have a helmet/jacket/gloves.

fun as hell. and like everyone predicted, it does feel like it has alot more power than i need, i am glad i didnt start with the gsxr600. thanks foteyfoe lol.
IT was a lil easier than i thought to use both brakes at same time, so i hope i can make it a habit.

Glad you enjoyed it. Although it may seem easy to use both brakes at first, it all comes down to a panic situation. Once you get more comfy on a bike, lock the rear on purpose a few times at low speeds and get used to it and know its limit.

Dont listen to him, and you'll be fine. Your rear will provide up to 25% of the stopping power, it might be in your best interest to get the most during a panic situation.

It all happens when you have friends with bikes, so your riding on the expressway (somewhat clear of cars and trucks) and then someone just speeds up lol and the next thing you know it starts a chain-reaction everyone leaves with the exception of that one person who stays with you lol and then right there your eyes will start to water lmfao j/k but it all starts if you have a friend with a bigger bike, it spreads like an advance form of Cancer.

nope not at all i wiegh about 225 and i can power it up around 11/5 rpm and it will stand right up took alot of try's but it comes up when u want it to,even as hard as it is to get the new r6 to stand up

hey it's ok...i bought a 600 and my buddy has always wanted a street bike so after he saw me get one he went and bought a 2007 cbr1000rr....i can outride him for the time being but once he finds his legs so to speak i am done....i too plan on upgrading in the spring to a newer full fairing bike

I agree with Brad on this one

If you get in a habbit of using your rear brakes all the time-in a panic situation you'll nail the front and Rear(like you would in a cage) and your rear will just lock up and then guess what-you can't steer so you skid off into a guard rail-see that happen a lot with new riders in the mountains-they think they are coming into a corner to hot-freak out-nail brakes(used to driving a car)-bike stands up and your off the road heading for the cliff or guard rail

A New rider has a lot to think about and the rear brake isn't that critical and if you use it too often or unwisely- well you know what will happen

that being said I do use my rear brake on the street some and if I'm ever riding in gravel-offroad ect---but I rarley use it on the track-and I would encourage new riders to not rely on the rear brake much at all

yes. it came a little mroenatural to use jsut the front brake, but i used the rear and front when slowing to stops.

rode around for about an hour tonight. loved it.

i got to ride a 2002 honda 600 f4i today. it was great. big difference between it and mine. handling was much tighter, accelerator was alot touchier ect. i liked it.

f4i is another good 600 to get. if your looking that route after your beginner!

I think you should buy a GIXKAWYAMAHONDA 1000 and do 180 pmh around 285.

no but seriousy, take it easy. its too easy to get overconfident and think you need to move up so you can have a sportbike. and listen to slow hatch and LordMDP, they wont give you any bad advice, well at least not about bikes.

Good choice on your bike. A lot of people don't realize how powerful SS 600s are.

Sucks that you got it in this cold weather but when it warms up you'll be better experienced and happy you are. A ton of my friends just recently got bikes. A lot of them their first bike.

Just be careful with those blinkers. If you leave them on they become a death sentence because cars will turn in front of you thinking you are turning.
