    Default *please help*

well i am in a shitty situation and i need some help, i found out that my engine is locked so i am getting rid of my car. i am looking to get a crx or an 240sx (89-91). i am ganna buy one of the two in about three weeks but need help. i am looking to get one of the two very cheap aroung 1500, so the car will have high milage... i am planning on driving the car for about three months then i would like to swap the car. i need help on knowing which car i am better off getting and the cheapest, so what swap would be the cheapest, and give me the less problems bc this car will be a daily driver. i am looking to pay about 3000-3500 including engine, labor, everything if this is possible. so what are my options with this price range. i have seen the sr20det on sale for about 1500 on a website but not really sure. if anyone knows a site that they have ordered engines from that would also be very helpful. thanks for your help

Honda's are always cheaper to build , maintain and will cause you less problems in the long run. there are also several shops that specialise in them. when you need a part be it body or engine, they are commonly available.

That's why i would never own one, i don't like to be like everyone else.

The Sr20 swap is good swap and the best one to ask about doing that would be TurboDave. He can get you all the specific on what it would cost to do one into a 240 and a price for specific years. He probably has one or two at the shop.

The B-Series swaps, depending on which you get are really common and parts are readily available. PM VtecKidd and ask him about it, I am sure he could rattle off a quote of the top of his head for any early 90's honda you could ask for. I know he can get you everything you would need if he doesn't have it at the shop already.

Your probably better of coming up with the money to put another engine in the eclipse.

..by the time you add up the cost of an engine PLUS freight, any additional parts that will probably be needed (water pump, timing belt, etc.), labor to do the swap, then your already past your budget and still carless...

...for a crx, unless you want to have to buy tires and fix dozens of misc. things then you'll probably have to spend $1,500-2+k. Get a LS engine & transmission, motor mounts, shift linkage, etc. and you'll have your budget just about maxed before labor. Might be able to find a first gen CRX and a B16 for a decent price but once you get the above needed parts you'll probably still be passed the budget before labor.

Unless you have the time and patience to look for parts and planning on doing nearly all the work yourself then $3-3,500 isn't quite a feasible amount for what you want, not saying it's not possible...there's just alot more costs than you think.
