Default Key stuck in the ignition and CEL codes

My key is stuck in the ignition, and it won't go to the off position for me to take the key out. I just had a shop put in a fairly new transmission for me, and the check engine light is throwing P1738 code and a P0740... any ideas on these? and any ideas on getting my key out of the ignition?

Try turning your steering wheel and then pulling the key out.

P0740 is a tcc (torque converter clutch stuck off) code.
P01738 is a slippage code, which is going to be related to the other. The key isn't coming out because the shifter is out of adjustment, and isn't going into park all the way. Take it back to the trans shop.

i would go with what "init2winit" said. U can try pushing and holding the shifter all the way forward(toward the dash) like ur trying to push it past park while trying to turn the key backwards and taking it out.

I have pushed the shifter back and forth, tried turning the steering wheel. I have also tried lubricant. I think the best thing to do is to get a new ignition and rip up the old one to get my key out. Or do you think the problem is related with the check engine lights?
