    Default Tuning options for hondas?

Just curious if there were some options for self tuning cars for the Hondas? My girlfriend has an 07 Civic and wants to do some modifications. I told her it would be best to figure out some form of engine management first and then start adding parts. Other than Hondata, what are some other options? For my WRX, there is a program called Street Tuner that is put out by Cobb where I can do all my own tuning on the car. This has been a HUGE help as I don't have to run to some tuner every time I want to make a change to my car. There is also OpenECU and Enginuity which are both free user tuning options for the Subaru. Is there nothing like this for Hondas? I have looked around but have not come up with anything other than Hondata and the AEM ecu.

No ideas? I would figure that with as many people modding their hondas someone would have hacked the ECU by now like the Subaru guys have done and have some kind of free engine management.

you can tune hondata yourself if it's newer than s200. for an '07 there isn't much beside the two.

hondata made a good decision by releasing the software with the hardware so purchasers of their product could self tune if they wished. this combatted against people using freeware that cut into their sales.

the problem is when people get the hardware and software they don't know exactly what they are doing, even if they have tuned other types of cars. they can stumble their way through, but don't know hondas so they make a mistake or are less than satisfied.

for '07 i think hondata only offers a reflash at this time anyway, so no tuning is possible anyway. if you want to tune it aem is the only way. good luck figuring out the software with aem...there is a lot of features and screens to learn.

Thanks for the informative post. I was hoping there was something fun like Enginuity for Hondas. Oh well. I have tuned Mustangs and Subarus now and done fairly well. Learning to tune a turbo car has been interesting. So many more menus, lol.

Looks like for a non-SI (DX, LX, EX) there is nothing from Hondata. Any other ideas other than the $1500 AEM?

I was actually talking more like Enginuity. It is a free program that you can use to hack the ECU on the wrx and sti.

If Hondata has 1, go with Hondata.. Its the sickest thing for Honda/Acuras period.... If not, try AEM..... All the others are garbage, hard to use, or you gotta splice into your ecu wiring and you don't wanna do that..

Well, at this point she is debating if she is going to keep the car. She got hit about a month ago and there was some minor frame damage. She is concerned about resale and safety and all that and may just trade it in on something else. Trying to talk her into a Subaru :P
