Default 1963 norton atlas 750 cafe racer

ok i have a bit of a problem and im stumped. any help is appreciated. first off, its a 1963 norton atlas 750cc with a BSA headlamp/lightswitch. the bike did not originally come with a battery back in the day, however, to have lights and all you must install a battery. the bike is a positive ground. now, from the alternator, i run through 3 wires to a rectifier. there, the 3 wires are merged into 1 wire. from the rectifier i run to a zener diode. then i am stumped on where to charge at. the other side goes from the negative terminal of the battery to the horn and then to the ampmeter in the headlamp. from the other side of the ampmeter, i run to the lightswitch and to the horn switch. from the hornswitch, i run a signal wire down to the horn. back at the lightswitch, when i move to the first on setting, i power my speedo and rev counter illumination lights as well as the horn switch. then the 2nd on position on the lightswitch will power my headlamp, taillight, speedo and rev counter illumination lights, and 1 idiot light, and the horn. the other idiot light is powered from the rectifier also, shouldnt be a problem with that 1. back to the battery, i run from the negative terminal to the stop light switch, from there to the stop light, then ground there. stoplight works fine. now, where do i plumb in my alternator currnet? i tried to plumb ino the negative with no current and shorted out.

Shouldn't this be in the motorcycle section?

I moved the thread, and I wouldn't think you would plumb the alternator current to the negative. Wouldn't it need to go to a positive? I dunno, I'm confused, and don't know a whole lot about motorcycles.

There are a decent amount of guys that come in this forum that know a billion times more about motorcycles than I do.
