does anyone know if these cheap intakes make any real power & torque gains? can they compete with AEM or K&N?

both are good intakes... not like one is gonna give you 1 more wtq and shit.. who cares.. ?
its the combinations that make power, not the type of intake you have? noob

did u even read the first post? i asked if anyone knew about significant hp gains from these intakes. & yeah i'm pretty sure everybody knows that brand name kits generally make more power than cheap kits. i was just having a discussion with knowledgeable IA users.

Anyone that says ebay intakes are crap is stupid. Its just a peice of filter with a tube, thats all there is too it. I wouldn't be suprised if plain old PVC piping does just as good as a job as any AEM/K&N/Injen etc. intake does. Get the ebay one, I've got one and it does a fine job at what it is. Why not get the ebay intake, toss the filter, and buy a brand name filter? It will still save you a lot of money over the full name brand intake.
BUY MY NEW BOOK! ITS CALLED, IF YOU LIKE IMPORTANTLANTA THERE'S A STRONG CHANCE YOU'RE A FAGGOT
I'd say the intakes can be comparable to K&N & AEM, EXCEPT the quality in the name brand filters are much better. The steel mesh around the cotton fibers don't rust & they last alot longer than the cheap filters that come w/ the Ebay intakes. I know because I have a cheap filter, but plan on getting a K&N.
like its been said, its just a pipe.
also, the filter that is on it is more important. buy the ebay intake for the piping, throw out the filter it comes with, and buy a k&n.
there used to be a comparison on honda tech between an aem v2 and an ebay intake where the guy dyno'ed his car with both on, the differences between the two were really negligible.
if i can find the thread ill post it here.
dont take anything i say srsly. its the interwebs.
^^ i would like to see it, if you could find it.
Its a fucking intake. There's no significant horsepower gains from ANY of them. OOO YAY 2 HP TO THE GROUND.
plus you could always sticka aem filter on it later
i drive toast your wrong, intake is one of the most bang for the buck horse power gains (forced induction excluded). ive heard of cars gaining up to 30+ wheel hp. heres acouple of examples
rsx 7.3 hp gain
http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...ake/index.html
rsx 18 hp gain
http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-C...P1899C310.aspx
shelby 53 hp gain
http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/63-2571.pdf
so before you try and look like a hard ass know your stuff
Now...how about you go and pull the numbers for the actual car he's looking at an intake for. Civic HX/EX.
7.3 and 18 are not significant gains.
And that's not a couple of examples. That's one example of 30+ HP. But the 30+ HP is on a motor that is very modified from its stock version and continues to use the stock intake.
Now go find me a chart for a Civic EX/HX that shows your 30+ HP gain from an intake.
touche but then again for those motors nothing is a significant gain except for FI lol +1 for youOriginally Posted by IDriveToast

YEAHHHH:idb:
Air intakes don't make significant gains as it is. All an intake is is tubing and a filter. Not rocket science, so its hard to mess it up.

soooo just curious, if your name is JDMrequired, why are you looking at "unjdm" things?
2) you get what you pay for
3) buy an Intake that was tested and tuned, not one that was made in china for a dollar and sold to you on ebay for 5.
get the aem stickers on the ebay pipe and instant 10 hp!
YEAHHHH:idb:
sigh mark you know better than that! is 25![]()
i cant beleive ppl actually have to think about this....ebay intakes are the win for sure. how can you justify the $200 price tag of a peice of pipe with a filter on it?...ill tell you how..you buy a $30 pipe with a filter on it. i guess i cant really argue any of this i have a $3000 intake on mine....but my intake added probably 130hp give or take
buy the cheap ebay intake, trash the filter, get a K&N or AEM filter (+/- $40 from advanced auto) and call it a day. You will have MAYBE $75 in the whole setup and pretty much have the same thing as a AEM minus the AEM sticker (which come with the AEM filter) and C.A.R.B exempt sticker, which really doesnt matter around here.
Land Rover LR3 HSE
the solution to this is actually already on e-bay, I bought one today. cheap no-name pipe and hardware that comes with a K&N for $50 (I even got free shipping). I don't trust a $2.00 filter.
The reason the name brand intakes are more money is they actually do R&D for their product which costs $$, plus better hardware. Copying is easy and cheap, and though the function is the same, I would expect quality and fitment to be poorer.
FWIW, I've got an ebay intake, put it next to my buddy's AEM....exact same. I put a K&N filter on it and never a problem.
